I saw an old man
Leaning over a pole
By the roadside
Asking help from people
Walking on the road.
The old man
In his late 80's
Was weak and tired.
He couldn't stand
That he was leaning
For a support.
Many cross by him
But they didn't help
They just stared
At his torn and rugged clothes
And pitied him.
I thought to myself :
Where is our heading to?
Old people are to be helped
They should be treated
Like one among us.
We should never let them suffer.
The old sulken face
With wrinkles all over
Shows the hardwork they have done.
The smile over their face
Beautiful and cheerful
Encourages us to move
Further in life.
The love they have for us
Has no bounds or limits.
They are always our great support.
Be with them !
Help them !
I crossed the road
Went to him
Asked him to tell about him.
He said he has no one
And that he wants to go back
To his village.
I helped him
Get a bus to his village
And told him to take care.
He thanked,blessed
And smiled at me.
The happiness on his face
Cannot be described in words.
I smiled back at him
And waved him Bye.
